World food brings people together in Evesham as part of “Million Acts of Hope”
We were delighted to organise a community food event in Evesham last weekend as part of the “Million Acts of Hope” initiative, which celebrates kindness, connection, and everyday acts of generosity across the UK.
We invited local residents to come along and share a free meal featuring dishes from around the world, all prepared by people who have resettled in the UK as refugees. The food included recipes from countries such as Iran, Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Syria, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of those involved.
The event took place near Workman Bridge and around Evesham Methodist Church, creating a friendly and welcoming space right in the heart of the town. It was wonderful to see people stopping by, chatting, and sitting together to enjoy the food.
Many visitors tried dishes they had never experienced before, and we were pleased to see so many people going back for seconds after discovering new flavours.
One of the best parts of the event was simply seeing people from different backgrounds coming together, sharing food and conversation. It also gave newly arrived families a chance to meet others from similar countries, which was really meaningful.
Overall, it was a really uplifting day for everyone involved. Events like this remind us how powerful food can be in bringing people together and helping build understanding between communities.
Evesham continues to show a strong spirit of welcome, and we’re proud to be part of that.
